Using Geometry to Select One Dimensional Exponential Families That Are Monotone Likelihood Ratio in the Sample Space, Are Weakly Unimodal and Can Be Parametrized by a Measure of Central Tendency

چکیده
One dimensional exponential families on finite sample spaces are studied using the geometry of the simplex ∆n−1 and that of a transformation Vn−1 of its interior. This transformation is the natural parameter space associated with the family of multinomial distributions. The space Vn−1 is partitioned into cones that are used to find one dimensional families with desirable properties for modeling and inference. These properties include the availability of uniformly most powerful tests and estimators that exhibit optimal properties in terms of variability and unbiasedness.

Accurate Inference for the Mean of the Poisson-Exponential Distribution
Although the random sum distribution has been well-studied in probability theory, inference for the mean of such distribution is very limited in the literature. In this paper, two approaches are proposed to obtain inference for the mean of the Poisson-Exponential distribution. Both proposed approaches require the log-likelihood function of the Poisson-Exponential distribution, but the exact for...
متن کاملThree Dimensional Localization of an Unknown Target Using Two Heterogeneous Sensors
Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks consist of some different types of sensor nodes deployed in a particular area. Different sensor types can measure different quantity of a source and using the combination of different measurement techniques, the minimum number of necessary sensors is reduced in localization problems. In this paper, we focus on the single source localization in a heterogene...
متن کاملThe role of demographic variables in tendency toward one-child families among married women
The fertility rate in Iran has recently changed significantly, to the point where Iran today faces a single-child phenomenon. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of demographic variables in the tendency for one child phenomenon of married women. In this study 200 married women participated whit a random sample selection from health centers. The inclusion criteria were to select ...
متن کاملOn discrete a-unimodal and a-monotone distributions
Unimodality is one of the building structures of distributions that like skewness, kurtosis and symmetry is visible in the shape of a function. Comparing two different distributions, can be a very difficult task. But if both the distributions are of the same types, for example both are unimodal, for comparison we may just compare the modes, dispersions and skewness. So, the concept of unimodali...
متن کاملA Numerical Study of the Effect of Aspect Ratio on Heat Transfer in an Annular Flow Through a 270-Degree Curved Pipe.
In the present paper, a three dimensional annular developing incompressible laminar flow through 270- degree curved pipe is numerically simulated. The dimensionless governing equations of continuity, momentums and energy are driven in toroidal coordinates. The governing equations are discretized by projection algorithm using forward difference in time and central difference in space. A three-di...
